What is a Product Variant?

Product Variant

Product is a group of variants (items) of one model.

Product variant is one specific SKU (item).

Example: Nike sneakers Air Force 1 Low

Example: Nike sneakers Air Force 1 Low — Color: Pink, Size: 37

  • Product has different sizes.
  • Product has different colors.
  • Product has different patterns or styles.
  • Product has different functionality, technical parameters, etc.

  • Product variants must belong to the same model: for example, a table and a chair cannot be set as different variants of the same products;
  • Each product variant must have its own unique SKU.
  • All product variants must be displayed: for example, if a product comes in three colors, and the variants are set based on the colors, it is prohibited to display only two colors.
  • If one product variant has a variant main image, other variants must have it as well.
  • Colors for product variants must be chosen from the list of currently accepted colors.
  • Colors, sizes, and images cannot be the same for several product variants.


 If your product doesn't meet the requirements, it will be rejected during the moderation process.

Please note:

Name, Description, and Product Main Image URL (and some other attributes) refer to a group of variants, thus they must completely match for all variants of one product. 

 

Please follow these instructions to create a Product Variant:


  Merchant Panel


Via CSV/XSLX file


Via API

  1. Go to the Products page.
  2. Open a product card to which you want to add variants.
  3. Click on the Edit Product button.
  4. Scroll down and click on the Add Variant button.
  5. Fill in the information and Save it.

 

 

To unify all product variants you need to fill in the same Product SKU for all items of one model.

  1. Go to the Products page.
  2. Click on the Manage products button ⟶ Create/Change via CSV.
  3. Add new rows for product variants and fill in the information. Each row refers to each product variant. 
  4. Save your CSV and upload it back on the platform.

Joom API — is a special programming tool that is intended to be used by merchants and developers for managing inventory and uploading products in bulk.

If a product comes in two colors (black and white), and two sizes (S and M), then this product is going to have four variants.

Product variants cannot be repeated, each variant must be unique.
